A smart blast protection wall, with many advantages in PVP.
An absolutely PVP-safe wall that is virtually indestructible.
Scenario 1)
The opponent simply tries to dismantle the wall.
-> Lava is released.
If the enemy survives the sudden lava attack and is stubborn enough to keep hacking, the wall sections that were filled with lava will replace themselves with obsidian.
Scenario 2)
Much more dangerous for normal walls are blast attacks. Of course, you could build the whole wall out of obsidian, but that is extremely difficult to get in large quantities. This is the main advantage of this wall: you only need a 1×1 obsidian pillar every 4 blocks and it is still completely blast-proof.
Due to the ingenious construction inside, every explosion at the wall breaks a barrier between lava and water and the wall fills itself with obsidian, making it completely inaccessible.

Another advantage: If the attacker places his TNT in the gaps, it will be ignited by the wall itself after a random period of time and the attacker might explode before he can get away.
Because I came up with this concept myself, it is not yet known on the internet (at least as far as I have seen). So the probability to surprise the opponent with such a wall is relatively high.
IMPORTANT: The lava must not flow, you have to pour 10 lava buckets into each gap of a 10 block high wall.
Build over it?
This is just a safe wall, not a proposal for a ceiling. But you could put pistons that push you down, for example, or a ledge placed above the lava. Apart from that you can easily see an attacker building high and shoot him down, then he dies because of the drop height.

Only catch:
You can dig underneath (I assume the wall is guarded from above). You could supplement that by building the wall over a lava pool. Makes it even harder to approach the wall at the same time.
But it's very good as it is. It's indestructible by blasting, because the attempt creates a complete obsidian wall. And as long as the wall is guarded, you can hardly get through it, because it takes so long to mine obsidian. But the construction will take a long time, because you really need a lot of lava. I've counted times, only for the shown already 85 lava sources.
The lava floor would be a possibility, and if you want to overdo it, you could (in theory) continue the wall underground all the way to Bedrock.
If you have a nether portal, you can actually get lava very easily....
(oh well, actually it's 13×5=65 for the one shown 😉 .
Unfortunately not very usable if you put blocks in the wall in time, and you have to keep resetting the wall.... Maybe for a short round of "The Walls

Why the water
Because that's how lava turns to obsidian.

Strange... So far it has always worked for me. When you built the wall, did you make sure there was no lava flowing anywhere? I'd be happy to help you fix it.

I have discovered what a good side effect: by the water the TNT would not destroy anything Un damit is the obsidian which you can still use if the enemy has buckets...
