Just put a row of rails in front of the house and no monsters (except spiders and slimes) will get inside.

It is important that there are no free blocks at the ends, otherwise the monsters can run outside. If it is necessary you can simply build a curve
does that really work? awesome
why does that work? otherwise the zombies run over my minecart tracks?!
I have tested this once. Works with 1.8 and also 1.7.10, but could also be a relatively unknown bug.
Must be a bug. There is no reason why they should not run over there.
Me too.
No, it's not a bug. In some version I once read "monsters stay away from rails". If another monster pushes a zombie on the tracks or the mobs spawn on the tracks they run over them, but actually it is planned that they stay away.
That's right, they introduced that at some point because otherwise you were always racing against them.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me.
I accidentally had that on our server once:
[!Attention! Story!]
I had a shop in our shopping mall. We have a pet plugin.
And pets didn't come over. Neither did Slimes.
I believe that no longer works time 1.8
So I have 1.8 and it works great. Thanks.
Thanks ;)for the tip.
