Eigendlich quite cool but how turn off barriers so that they are invisible?

if you hold a barrier in your hand then you see it, if you don't then you don't.

Then they simply become invisible

The barrier symbols are particles. So... never mind, USE THE GODDAMN WIKI!
And by the way, where's the idea?
I could build a house out of barriers, I'm sure it would go down "well".

Everywhere someone uses barriers, someone asks how to make them invisible. Are you really all that stupid?

You could make a few carpets on it in an adventure map then it looks like a jump'n'run and if you fuck up you don't fly down!

quite useful for an adventure map. However, you should then block "obvious" alternative paths (such as in the screenshot through the valley) or design them so that you can not get out on the other side. Secondly, you could design the bridge in such a way that you have gaps in it and you can only walk a certain way (e.g. two in front, one to the right, three in front, two to the left ... or so). The correct directions could then be worked out in advance via the various quests.

The idea is good. You could maybe add wooden fences on the outside and pressure plates in the middle. Then it looks like a suspension bridge. 🙂
