may be that I'm wrong, but the fire does not jump over at some point, is only 1 block next to it and made of wood?
I don't think so, because it's never happened to me before...
Did some more research and you're right. Apparently wooden doors can't be set on fire by fire.
I have another suggestion, for the implementation of your idea:


So you don't have to bend down to use the stove and it doesn't look so clunky. Works well in medieval kitchens, etc.
