A simple and realistic way to bring daylight into your basement.
If you use half-height steps at the edge of the road as a "walkway" it looks more pleasing.
Instructions:
Create a continuous connection into the basement (usually 2 blocks). As a cover I use an iron trap door.

This idea is very similar.
@Richtes similar but still a bit different, at least I like it! ^^
