An easy way to create signposts. I saw this by accident when I was building my camp and put a pickaxe in a frame.
There's really no need for instructions here.
Of course, depending on the texture pack used, it may not look very already.

If I understood the page correctly but only suitable in creative mode. And what do you do in a survival world???
This idea should actually be good as an alternative to arrows in the frame or to the linked idea. And that goes at least also in survival mode.
Finally a new idea for directional arrows. And it's Survivalmode friendly to boot
