A very compact secret door in the floor.
The green wool block, which is at the same height as the block with the switch on it, then form the level for the floor. If you want it in the ceiling, it is mirrored exactly down.
Instructions:
For this entrance you need:- 1x Redstone
- 1x repeater
- 1x Redstone lamp
- 1x way to bepowers (switch, button, pressure plate, etc...)
- 2x Redstone flares
- 3x Sticky Piston
You can actually see everything on the screenshot, just make sure the repeater is on 4 ticks delay.
For the entrance in the ceiling, you just have to sweep the plunger with the wool block down and just placed the switch on the bottom of the front block.

The wool block only goes down one - where does an entrance open up?
@Cambodia if you look closely at the cover photo, you can see the green block being pulled down and then pulled back along with the piston by two other pistons one to the rear.
However, with this idea you can only go down and not up again, as you cannot attach ladders, in which case you would have to work with a second piston construction.
