1. use a lot of stone and dark tree trunks
2. you have to try out what you like
3. when you have a part of the construction done you have to look at the whole picture and if you don't like it you should try to bring a pattern or some depth into the building e.g. with single walls you put on the facade
4. You should build a lot of depth into the outer walls, which you can achieve with fences or walls.
5. the interiors should be decorated with patterns.
6. if the building does not have enough color differences you can work with gold blocks.
7. you should not overdo it with the depths and contrasts, because, too much of a good thing is also shit
8. Steampunk is not an easy building style you have to practice some time until you only half master it and you need a lot of time for buildings that look good and you must not think now I've built that and good you still have to look what you can do better, and especially when you build large areas such as the floor of a larger room with a pattern you must not think now enough, but you have to pull it through so you see what you have done.
9. you should not use commands like /fill or /copy because otherwise you see when you look at the building only his own laziness and not what you have done. Besides, it looks ugly.
